The figures convey a clear message. With China entering a deeply aging society, families are increasingly open to embracing technology as a partial solution to the shortage of caregivers; however, more than 70% of buyers still hesitate or refuse outright, primarily because they are unsure whether robots are safe enough to be trusted with vulnerable elderly users, and whether the asking price truly reflects the value delivered.

In my view, manufacturers should treat safety certification as a non-negotiable baseline rather than a marketing slogan, and the government ought to introduce subsidies and industry standards. Only when older adults feel both protected and respected can elderly-care robots realize their humane potential.
