The chart shows the major daily leisure activities of elderly people in a community. Watching TV ranks first, accounting for 90.8%, followed by walking at 68.3%. By contrast, growing flowers and reading are chosen by 34.7% and 31.8% respectively, while playing chess is the least popular, at only 18.4%.

These figures suggest that most seniors prefer relaxing and easily accessible activities. Watching TV requires little physical effort, and walking is both simple and good for health. However, the relatively low percentages of reading and chess may indicate that more intellectually engaging or social activities are not sufficiently attractive or convenient for many older residents.

In my view, communities should provide more varied leisure options for the elderly. Besides maintaining safe walking areas, they can organize reading clubs, chess groups and gardening workshops. Such activities will not only enrich seniors' daily lives but also help them stay active, connected and mentally healthy.
