Beijing Daxing International Airport, located 46 kilometers south of Tiananmen Square, was put into operation on September 30, 2019. The massive project began construction in 2014, with over 40,000 workers on the construction site at its peak. The terminal is designed compactly, allowing the maximum number of aircraft to dock directly at positions closest to the terminal's center, which greatly facilitates passengers. The terminal has a total of 82 gates, and after passing through security, passengers can reach any gate in less than 8 minutes. The airport's design ensures a takeoff and landing rate of 300 flights per hour. With an annual passenger capacity expected to reach 100 million by 2040, it is poised to become the busiest airport in the world.
