The Tang Dynasty began in 618 and ended in 907, marking the most splendid period in Chinese history. After nearly three hundred years of development, Tang China became the most prosperous and powerful nation in the world, with its capital Chang'an being the largest city at that time. During this period, the economy flourished, commerce thrived, social order was stable, and even the borders were open to the outside world. With urbanization and the increase of wealth, arts and literature also prospered. Li Bai and Du Fu were poets renowned for the simplicity and naturalness of their works. Their poetry touched the hearts of scholars and common people alike. Even today, many of their poems are widely read and recited by children and adults.
